COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS IN GRENOBLE

In June 2019 ASG students had a fantastic couple of days building garden furniture and painting a mural for a local community garden.

“Chantiers Ouverts aux Publics” is an Association run by the City of Grenoble which works to improve community facilities with help from local communities.  In the Quartier Jean Mace our students provided that help in abundance.

Teachers and students had a great couple of days alongside local residents. We built a bench, a table, compost bins and a pergola. A small team of our students also created a wall mural. The City of Grenoble provided a wonderful picnic lunch.

I think we can say that students thoroughly enjoyed the day and were truly proud of the work they did.

Head of School, Carol Margaret Bitner commented “This type of project is something that our school has been looking for over several years. It is a chance for our students to learn new skills, volunteer their time in the service of others, speak French and to contribute to their local Grenoble community.”

We very much hope that this project will become an annual part of our program. Thank you to our students who worked hard over the two days. A huge vote of thanks goes to Mr. Petiot and Ali from the Association who both inspired and guided our students.

We thank the local Residents for allowing us this opportunity and had this lovely response from them:

“C’est nous qui vous remercions, Amanda, ainsi que tous vos élèves qui ont été formidables. Ali n’est pas prêt de les oublier, et nous non plus. Transmettez leur toute notre amitié et toute notre reconnaissance”
