The School Environment
The School
Our school is a modern building located in downtown Grenoble. All of our students are administratively enrolled as students of the Cité Scolaire Internationale once they have been enrolled as students of the American School of Grenoble. They share the same facilities as the students in CSI, including science and IT labs. Students follow the school rules set by the CSI and American School.
The American School of Grenoble is a school within a school. We are housed in the premises of the public junior high and high school, the Cité Scolaire Internationale. We are composed of a “Collège” (grades 6 through 9) and a Lycée (grades 10 through 12). Classes at the American School of Grenoble are taught in English; Classes at the Cité Scolaire Internationale are taught in French. Our students take some lessons in the CSI section to enable a greater exposure to French. Click here for the Cité Scolaire Internationale web site
The Library
The Bibliothèque Municipale Internationale website. The library is also open to the public.
The Pantomime
An annual popular and fun event run by Greg West at CSI. A pantomime is a British play which parodies a fairy tale using music and slapstick comedy. Rehearsals begin in May prior to the show in the following January or February.
The Music club
Mr West also runs a gardening and music club which puts music equipment at the disposition of members free, allowing rehearsals during gaps in schedules, opportunities to learn an instrument for free, chances to perform in concert in front of hundreds of people and to take part in the production of CDs of original compositions by students.
School trips
ASG students are able to participate in the exciting trips arranged by the Umbrella Association of the CSI: Umbrella Association
The school cafeteria and snack bar
The Cité Scolaire Internationale cafeteria is open from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. A snack bar is available to all students between 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM and from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Students are strongly encouraged to eat on school premises, especially when they have very short lunch breaks (half-hour). The CSI cafeteria and snack bar are run by a privately-owned company so to eat on school premises, students are required to have a lunch card.
Transport
Transport links are excellent in Grenoble and the school entrance is at the Terminus of tram line B at Cité Scolaire Internationale. Map
